Welcome!

A SCITT is a training provider which is based exclusively in a school, giving trainee teachers the opportunity to gain ‘on the job’ experience of teaching from the start of their training.
Landau Forte College Derby SCITT are able to recommend you for Qualified Teacher Status and, working in partnership with the University of Derby, you will be awarded PGCE with 60 Master’s level credits.
Teaching is a very rewarding profession where you can make a real difference to the life of a young person and have a real impact on their future. Teaching is more than a job; it’s an exciting career where no two days are the same! Click here https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/ to find out more.

Why train with us?

As the lead school, Landau Forte College Derby, is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and we are justifiably proud of our learning environment. We have a growing partnership of secondary schools across the local region, where you may be placed to teach students in the age range of 11-16 years.

We have an outstanding record of achievement for those graduating into the profession and going on to achieve successful careers in education. 100% of the trainees who completed the course in 2015-6 found employment in teaching, the majority within the local area.

We are proud of our history of employing many of our trainees within the partnership and of the career progression they demonstrate once qualified.

If you do decide to begin your journey as a teacher with us, we will offer you opportunities which span your career and as a Newly Qualified Teacher, you will be able to join a range of professional development courses that we offer.

What our trainees say about us:

“One of the benefits of choosing a SCITT route, for me, was feeling I was a valued part of the science team right from the start rather   than a ‘visiting trainee’, but still being able to gain a PGCE qualification – the best of both worlds! The support I have received from my mentor, subject knowledge tutor and SCITT team has been invaluable and tailored to my own progress.  I chose Landau Forte SCITT as I was impressed by the positive relationships between staff and students on my visits and I have not been disappointed. Come and see for yourself!”

Sharon KenworthyTrainee Tutor of Biology, 2016-17

The reason I chose LFC Derby SCITT was due to the fact it offered me a chance to be fully involved in the school’s community and feel a real part of a subject department from the outset. I have had the chance to witness a variety of teaching styles which has helped me to form my own. This, coupled with various opportunities for new experiences, has helped me to become a fully-fledged teacher in such a brilliant school environment”

Richard GidlowTrainee Tutor of English, 2016-17

“The support that is constantly offered by everyone I come into contact with has been fantastic”
“The quality of the Subject Knowledge sessions is excellent.  It is completely personalised and is therefore relevant to our own planning and experiences”

Erin Merlin Trainee Tutor of Physics, 2015-16

“Being a SCITT trainee has allowed me to interact with young people and demonstrate my passion for learning and history.  It has been fast pace and has really allowed me to integrate as a Tutor from the offset.”

Taran HayreTrainee Tutor of History, 2015-16

“I am thoroughly enjoying my training with Landau Forte and I look forward to my future career in teaching.”

Kate BrattTrainee Tutor of English, 2015-16
